Meet DigiDoodle – From code to creativity

DigiDoodle is bridging the gap between logic and imagination—one drawing at a time.

Known offline as Nico Hartmann, this German software developer didn’t expect to fall in love with coloring or drawing.
But after spending years immersed in lines of code, he found unexpected joy in a different kind of line: the kind you sketch.

Nico’s entry into the creative world was purely digital—and practical. “I wasn’t looking to become an artist,” he laughs. “I just wanted to unwind, and digital coloring felt familiar but relaxing.” That spark soon led to something even more purposeful: designing easy-to-follow, digital-friendly ‘learn to draw’ coloring books.

Today, as DigiDoodle, Nico creates simplified, accessible books that teach people how to draw in just 4 clear steps. His clean, structured layouts are ideal for tablets and digital drawing apps—making them perfect for beginners, kids, and even adults who’ve always wanted to draw but didn’t know where to start.

Q&A with DigiDoodle

Q: What inspired you to start making coloring books?
“I needed something to balance out the intensity of software work. Drawing digitally became a way to recharge—and when I realized how hard it was to find clear, beginner-friendly guides, I started making my own.”

Q: Why focus on ‘learn to draw’ books instead of traditional coloring pages?
“Because a lot of people want to draw, but they feel intimidated. I wanted to break it down in a way that’s logical and approachable. Just four steps—from a basic shape to a finished doodle. It’s simple, satisfying, and builds confidence.”

Q: Are there more books coming?
“Definitely. I have plans for theme-based books—animals, food, space, characters, everyday objects. I also want to include traceable guides and exercises that help users build muscle memory while still having fun.”

Q: Who are your books for?
“Beginners. Kids. Adults who say they ‘can’t draw.’ Anyone who wants to learn something new in a low-pressure way. It’s also great for digital artists who want a quick, satisfying warm-up or practice session.”

Q: What makes your coloring books stand out?
“They’re not just for coloring—they’re for learning. Each page is designed with clarity and simplicity, and optimized for screens. You follow the 4 steps, and by the end, you’ve drawn something yourself. That’s a powerful feeling.”

The Road Ahead

As DigiDoodle, Nico Hartmann is on a mission to make drawing feel less intimidating and more accessible—especially in the digital world. With every book, he combines the precision of a developer with the encouragement of a beginner-friendly guide.

So whether you’ve never drawn a thing in your life, or you’re simply looking for a fresh way to reconnect with creativity, DigiDoodle’s simple 4-step books are the perfect place to start—one shape, one swipe, one step at a time.
