Meet Doodlelicious – From lecture notes to works of art

Some people take notes in class. Others create masterpieces.

That’s how 21-year-old design student Lena Brooks—better known in our store as Doodlelicious—found her niche. What started as idle doodling in the margins of her college notebooks quickly grew into pages of mesmerizing, intricate patterns that now make up her one-of-a-kind coloring books.

Studying graphic design and illustration at university, Lena has always been drawn to the in-between moments—the kind where your mind wanders and your pen moves without a plan. “My best ideas came when I wasn’t trying to make something perfect,” she says. “They came when I was just being present. Just… doodling.”

Inspired by a TikTok and encouraged by classmates, Lena began collecting her most intricate sketches and turning them into fully realized coloring pages. Now, as Doodlelicious, she’s sharing those spontaneous, hypnotic designs with a growing audience of colorists who crave something detailed, dynamic, and full of personality.

Q&A with Doodlelicious

Q: What inspired you to start making coloring books?
“Honestly, it wasn’t planned. I used to doodle during lectures to stay focused. One day a friend looked at a page and said, ‘I’d color that.’ That’s when it clicked—maybe other people would too. When I saw a TikTok on how to make money online I started scanning and cleaning up my favorites, and it grew from there.”

Q: Why focus on intricate doodle patterns?
“Because that’s what comes naturally to me. It’s free-flowing and full of rhythm. There’s no pressure to make it look like something ‘real.’ It’s just shape, movement, and mood. That’s what I love about it—and I think others do too.”

Q: Are there more books coming?
“Yes! I’m working on a whole series: themed doodle books, limited-color challenges, maybe even collaborations with other student artists. I want to keep experimenting while staying true to that raw, spontaneous style.”

Q: Who are your books for?
“Anyone who finds peace in patterns. Most of my buyers are adults and teens who like really detailed pages—they want something they can sit with for a while. It’s kind of meditative. But I’ve also had younger kids color my pages, and they make them look totally different, which I love.”

Q: What makes your coloring books stand out?
“They weren’t designed in a software program from scratch—they were doodled into existence. Every page started as something honest and unfiltered. I think that gives them a kind of energy you can’t fake. They’re fun, weird, beautiful—and you can color them a thousand different ways.”

The Road Ahead

As Doodlelicious, Lena Brooks isn’t just filling pages—she’s following her creative instinct, one line at a time. Her books are a celebration of spontaneity, a reminder that even the smallest scribbles can become something powerful when you trust the process.

With graduation still ahead and her sketchbooks never far from reach, Lena continues to turn everyday moments into beautifully intricate designs—proving that sometimes, the best ideas really do come when you’re supposed to be paying attention.
